MIHARA YASUHIRO SS2013 LEATHER CUMBERBUND TROUSERS

Mihara Yasuhiro’s Spring 2013 collection was inspired by the bad boy greaser persona prevalent in 1950’s American culture. The runway particularly drew on the 1990 cult film David Lynch’s Wild at Heart. The snakeskin jacket worn by Nicolas Cage’s character Sailor Ripley in that movie was a key visual starting point for the collection. Yasuhiro channeled a free-spirited, rebellious energy this season, rooted in film and cultural archetypes, which came through in both theme and silhouette. This piece features a detachable cow leather waistband and pearl buttoning throughout the trouser. The item is wearable with or without the leather applique.
